Katie Gallagher Fall 2014
Dark and Moody- this was the atmosphere at Katie Gallagher’s
NYFW show. This was perfect considering the amount of time and effort it took
to get to NYC.
In case some of you
might not know how a show is set up backstage, picture this- each department at
this show was set up in different rooms (makeup by MAC Cosmetics, Team Headed
by Romero Jennings-Director of Makeup Artistry, @MAC_Romero_J, he’s brilliant) and (hair by Mr. Nick
Irwin and TIGI Creative Team) in another room. The runway backstage is completely separate and only a few people from each team and essential people are allowed. No so
great for backstage photo’s but great chaos control.
My Mom |
The two models with the oversized red bows had their hair
done by my mom (Karen Angel) and her team mates. It was about 3 people to one
head, sectioning and gelling each section with TIGI Session Series Wet Look, then
drying that section for a clean look. This hair look was labor intensive
. Can I
get people to come to my house and whip me up some great hair! Please.
The slick look, which I feel amplified the slick mix of
nylon fabric sprinkled throughout this collection, was perfect. I can’t wait to
see Mr. Nick Irwin translate this look into something for us real people.
The Makeup was created by Romero Jennings, his vision of
romance would appear to be otherworldly almost Snow White fairy tale. The dewy
skin of the models off set the deep blood lip. On the runway it almost looks
black but it’s not, it’s rich and velvety looking. I loved the swept up, fur
quality of the brow look that soften the dark clothing.

These are the pieces I would add to my wardrobe. There are
some very wearable pieces for fall 2014.

I love this look with the dark color palette! Reminds me of Wednesday from the Adams Family, but put on runway!
